THE 303 AT LOUIE AND CHAN, LOWER EAST SIDE

This brand-new restaurant and basement bar/music room concept is exactly what discerning New Yorkers have been looking for. I for one am celebrating its arrival to the downtown Manhattan scene.

Here’s how your night at Louie and Chan is going to play out – a pre-dinner cocktail in the basement bar as you wait for your table. An unfussy Italian dinner (order the Tuscan kale salad and the braised octopus with fingerling potatoes), then a long night of musical appreciation in the basement area to DJs like Nickodemus, Quantic, Lefto, DJ Spinna and Rich Medina along with likeminded New Yorkers who are open minded to independent music.

Best Bit: The music room is dark, the sound is incredibly rich, the DJ roster is curated with taste and the crowd is musically educated and respectful. No barging or backpacks on the dance floor here.
