NYC Hotspot Find: Flinders Lane
FLINDERS LANE, EAST VILLAGE
It took dinner at Flinders Lane to realise how much I’ve missed the food back home in Australia. If you’re lucky enough to have travelled there, you’ll know modern Australian cuisine as a beautiful multicultural collision that takes the best from South East Asia, Greece, Italy and even India with British fare at its core. Food there has a special zingy-ness that’s fresh, light and balanced. It’s hard to put your finger on, but you know it when you taste it and now you can at Flinders Lane.
Make sure the Curry Laksa makes it to your ordering list and pair it with one of the carefully edited Australian wines from boutique producers. If it’s a beer kind of night, don’t look past the hard to get Cooper’s Pale Ale hailing from South Australia (they know the way to an Aussie girl’s heart).
Best Bit: At Flinders Lane, I was transported back to its namesake Melbourne laneway where it’s an expectation for restaurants to cook food with the same fresh, bold approach
